What is Facial Cosmetic Surgery?
Facial Cosmetic Surgery is elective surgery performed to the forehead, face, eyelids, nose, or neck region to improve the appearance and restore a more youthful appearance. The most represented procedures of facial cosmetic surgery include brow lift, blepharoplasty (eyelid lift), face lift, and neck lift. Face lift surgery or rhytidectomy is a procedure that restores your face to a more youthful appearance. A face lift procedure is performed on both men and women who begin to show visible signs of aging. There are several minimally invasive procedures including mini brow lift, endoscopic brow lift, and mini face lift (weekend face lift) that are typically performed on patients in their late 30's or early 40's who only require minimal facial rejuvenation.
Who is a Candidate for Facial Cosmetic Surgery?
Candidates for facial cosmetic surgery incude women and men age 18 to 65 with visible signs of aging. The ideal candidate is also a non-smoker, generally in good health, and desires cosmetic improvement in their appearance.

EYELID SURGERY. BLEPHAROPLASTY
Eyelid lift surgery or blepharoplasty provides you with a more rested appearance by removing excess skin and/or fat pockets from your upper or lower eyelids. Through the use of an advanced technique, Dr. Michael Thornton performs scarless lower eyelid blepharoplasty or transconjunctival blepharoplasty to minimize scars and complications. Dr. Michael Thornton may also provide complete periorbital rejuvenation by applying a medium depth chemical peel or performing fat grafting around your orbital region to tighten the lower eyelid skin, smooth out fine wrinkles, and eliminate dark circles and periorbital hollowness.

FACE LIFT. NECK LIFT. FACIAL REJUVENATION

MINI BROW LIFT. ENDOSCOPIC BROW LIFT
Brow lift can be performed alone or in conjuction with a blepharoplasty for complete peri-orbital facial rejuvenation to correct droopy eyebows and remove excess eyelid skin. A brow lift can be performed in one of several ways from a mini brow lift for minimal correction to a full coronal lift for maximal effect. More recently, endoscopic brow lift has become available due to advancements in minimally invasive cosmetic surgery.

FAT TRANSFER
Fat transfer or dermal fat grafting is a minimally invasive procedure that naturally restores facial volume around your orbits, cheeks, and midface by simply removing fat cells from one area of your body and transplanting into another area of your body. The fat is removed with a small liposuction cannula from common donor sites such as your abdomen, flanks, or thighs. Once harvested, the fat is processed and then injected and sculpted into the desired recipient site. The most common areas of the face to receive fat transfer are the areas around the lower eye socket (tear trough deformity), cheeks, lips, and wrinkles and folds around your nose and mouth, known as the nasolabial folds and marionette lines.

TORN EARLOBE REPAIR. OTOPLASTY
Earlobe repair for torn earlobes, earlobe reduction, and otoplasty or ear pinning, are all procedures that change the shape and contour of your ears. Although cosmetic ear enhancement is more commonly performed on young children, an increasing number of adults are undergoing otoplasty to improve their overall facial symmetry and appearance, while others are simply requesting repair of torn earlobes or removal of earlobe keloid scars.

SKIN RESURFACING
You may be a candidate for skin resurfacing if your facial skin is severly sun damaged or wrinkled, if you have vertical lines (smoker lines) around your mouth, if you have facial scars caused by injury, acne, or chicken pox, or if you have severe brown spots, freckles or blotchy skin. Surgical skin resurfacing techniques include medium and deep chemical peels, dermabrasion, and CO2 fractionated laser resurfacing.

CHEMICAL PEEL
Chemical peel involves the application of a chemical solution to peel away the top layers of your epidermis and dermis. Chemical peels can erase, fade or reduce facial lines and wrinkles and remove skin discoloration and imperfections. The cosmetic result is a more healthy, vibrant, and even skin appearance. A variety of chemical solutions are used to produce peels of varying depths and the outcome of the peel is dependent upon the applied technique. A medium or deep chemical peel is performed and monitored by Dr. Michael Thornton who personally applies the chemical solution using light anesthesia.
