FAT TRANSFER. DERMAL FAT GRAFTING
Mansfield. Arlington. Fort Worth. Dallas. TX
Facial cosmetic improvement through the use of fat transfer and dermal fat grafting is a natural and more permanent technique to restore facial volume due to the effects of aging or lipodystrophy syndromes. Using your body’s own fat cells, donor fat is harvested and carefully grafted into areas of your face where youthful volume can be restored.
The most common areas of the face to receive fat transfer and grafting are the areas around the lower eye socket (tear trough deformity), cheeks, lips, and wrinkles and folds around your nose and mouth, known as the nasolabial folds and marionette lines. In addition, Dr. Michael Thornton commonly uses this advanced technique during periorbital rejuvenation whereby he transfers fat into the area of lower orbital rim, to correct a condition known as the tear trough deformity.
Fat transfer or dermal fat grafting is a natural alternative to other more commonly used collagen fillers and injectables. In addition, because you own fat cells are used there should be no allergic reaction. Fat transfer simply removes fat cells from one area of your body and transplants them into another. The fat is removed with a small liposuction cannula from any donor site such as your abdomen, thigh or buttocks. Once harvested, the fat is centrifuged and processed to remove excess fluids and debris and then injected, grafted, and sculpted into the desired recipient site. Not every area of the body responds well to fat transplantation but your face is one area that it works well.
