Brenna D. Merrifield - Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner

Brenna D. Merrifield, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC is our newest Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner at Mansfield Cosmetic Surgery Center who is a Doctoral-prepared, board certified Family Nurse Practitioner, specializing in cosmetic medical procedures and aesthetic skin rejuvenation, including Botox, Xeomin, Dermal Fillers, PRP Hair Restoration, PRP Facial Microneedling, and Cosmetic Laser Treatments.

First, what is Botox?

Botox Cosmetic is a popular name brand for the injectable medication, botulinum toxin. In aesthetics, it is used in small doses to temporarily paralyze some of the facial muscles in order to achieve a smoother and less wrinkled appearance. Often, wrinkles of the face are due to over-use of facial expressions (i.e. raising the eyebrows and frowning or squinting). Therefore, by temporarily softening these facial expressions, the wrinkles are diminished.

What can I expect during my first Botox appointment?

At The Medical Spa at Mansfield Cosmetic Surgery Center, we aim to provide the most personalized, comprehensive and safe experience for every patient. To achieve this, we provide a complimentary consultation with our Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner, Brenna Merrifield APRN, for all first-time Botox patients. First, our Nurse Practitioner will do a comprehensive review of your health and medication history to ensure this procedure is right for you. The consultation with our Nurse Practitioner confirms you understand everything about Botox before she injects and allows her time to create a treatment plan that is specifically designed for you and your aesthetic goals.

What happens after I’m done with my Botox appointment?

After your comprehensive consultation and Botox treatment, you are cleared to go about your normal day, with exception to rigorous exercising, facial massaging, extreme heat exposure, and alcohol consumption for 24 hours. We also recommend you remain upright for at least 6 hours after your injection to prevent the Botox from migrating to areas we do not intend to treat.

When should I get Botox again?

If this was your first Botox injection, we recommend a follow-up visit with our Nurse Practitioner around 2-weeks in order to make touch-ups as needed. After your first treatment, we recommend patients receive treatments at least every 3 – 4 months.  In addition, to achieve your best results, we never want your Botox to wear off completely, because it brings back those facial expressions that produce wrinkles.

Call us today at 817-477-9000 or contact online to schedule a Botox consultation and treatment with our Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner, Brenna Merrifield APRN.
