We offer the best Cynosure ICON Handpieces for specific skin conditions:
Each skin condition requires a specific handpiece to deliver IPL and laser energy at specific wavelengths of light. At Mansfield Cosmetic Surgery Center, we use the safest and most commonly used IPL handpieces to treat most all skin conditions approved for the Cynosure ICON Aesthetic System:
MaxG Handpiece uses optimized intense pulsed light (IPL) technology with dual-band Spectrum Shifting filters for the clearance of pigmented and vascular skin lesions including brown spots, hyperpigmentation, freckles, sun damage, and vascular red spots and small veins.
MaxY Handpiece uses optimized intense pulsed light technology (IPL) for the clearance of sun damage and pigmented lesions on the chest, arms, legs, and hands.
1540 Fractional Non-Ablative Laser is the only FDA cleared non-ablative fractional laser for the treatment of stretch marks. In addition, the ICON 1540 is an excellent handpiece to use on surgical scars, acne scars, fine lines and wrinkles. We offer the XF Microlens for quick high-speed superficial treatments for fine lines and wrinkles and the XD Microlens for deeper penetration to treat scars and stretch marks.
Sun Damage & Brown Spots
The best way to reduce unwanted sun damage, brown spots, age spots, freckles, facial veins, red spots and hyperpigmentation on the face, neck, chest, arms, hands, and legs is with Cynosure’s innovative ICON laser. Using advanced IPL laser technology with the MaxG or MaxY handpiece, the ICON targets your unwanted sun damage that disappears through the body’s natural healing process. Typically, only a few treatments are recommended to achieve optimal results. The MaxG skin treatment can also be combined with the 1540 Fractional Non-Ablative Laser to smooth fine lines and winkles, remove skin imperfections, and lay down new collagen during the ThreeForMe™ Laser Treatment.
Fine Lines and Wrinkles
Cynosure’s state-of-the-art ICON laser is specifically designed to reduce the visible signs of aging and soften fine lines and wrinkles through the use of the 1540 Fractional Non-Ablative Handpiece. Using the ICON 1540 laser allows for a more comfortable treatment with a rapid recovery, while you can typically return to normal activities with only several days of minimal redness and skin swelling. The 1540 laser works by penetrating the dermis to create hundreds of tiny high-precision columns of thermal coagulation. Then during the healing process, new collagen is formed thus improving skin texture and smoothing out fine lines, winkles, acne scars, stretch marks, and surgical scars.
ICON 1540 Stretch Mark Reduction
FDA Approved for Treatment of Stretch Marks
Following pregnancy, puberty, or rapid weight fluctuations, stretch marks may appear on various areas of your body. Stretch marks are actually small tears in the dermis resulting in unsightly linear scars. Because the problem resides in the deeper layers of skin, successful treatment of stretch marks must occur with laser technology that can accurately penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin. The Cynosure ICON laser using the 1540 Fractional Non-ablative laser handpiece is FDA approved for the treatment of stretch marks using a fractional laser. This FDA clearance allows cosmetic surgery practices to treat women who have unwanted stretch marks.
Clinical studies achieved an average improvement of 51% and 75% in the appearance of stretch marks based upon blinded reviews of photographs comparing pre-treatment photographs with results three-months post-treatment. The Cynosure ICOn 1540 fractional handpiece diminishes the appearance of stretch marks because it penetrates into the dermis and directly stimulates the growth of new and evenly distributed collagen while re-modeling dermal scars.
Laser stretch mark treatments can diminish the appearance of stretch marks in a few quick sessions with minimal discomfort and no downtime. Patients can expect to see an improvement in both the quality and texture of stretch marks following treatments. Realistically, patient’s need to realize the process is slow and they will need approximately four to eight treatment sessions over three to six months to achieve for maximum desired results. For most patients, there is no downtime allowing the return to normal activities in no time.
ThreeForMe™ Laser Treatments — the brighter solution for dull skin
ThreeForMe™ addresses three separate skin conditions in one session. It is the proven way to get rid of fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, sun damage and unsightly facial veins all at the same time. When you undergo a ThreeForMe laser treatment, our aesthetician will use both the MaxG handpiece and the 1540 Fractional Non-Ablative Laser handpiece during the same session. Patients are extremely satisfied because it delivers great results without extended downtime.
The ThreeForMe™ treatment is exclusive to the Cynosure ICON aesthetic laser system. The procedure is performed in two separate passes, using two separate handpieces, during one treatment session. The first pass treats sun damage, skin discoloration, freckles, brown spots, and red facial vessels using the MaxG handpiece. The second pass treats fine lines, wrinkles, and surface imperfections using the 1540 Fractional Non-Ablative Laser handpiece that renews the skin by generating new collagen.
Only ThreeForMe™ treatments addresses all three skin conditions in one procedure. A typical course of involves 3 treatment sessions at one-month intervals for optimal results. Contact our office for pricing and scheduling an appointment with our aesthetician.
What will I expect during my Cynosure ICON or ThreeForMe treatment?
You will meet with our medical esthetician provider and review a personal treatment protocol. Your skin will be prepped and special eye shields or glasses will be applied. Our esthetician will enter the correct parameters into the ICON device based upon your skin type and treatment protocols and the treatment will begin. Each handpiece is cold to the touch to minimize discomfort.
Recovery is minimal and your skin will appear pink and may show some minor swelling or edema. The areas of skin pigment will darken and flake off in a few days while the inflammation will subside gradually. There is no skin penetration as the ICON treatment is considered non-invasive so down-time is very minimal. Our office will provide you with detailed post-procedure instructions at the time of your session.
All of our providers have undergone advanced training and certification on the Cynosure PicoSure laser system and are are available for consultations.
