SculpSure Non Invasive Fat Reduction & Body Contouring
Serving clients living near Mansfield, Arlington, Fort Worth, Dallas Texas
What is SculpSure?
SculpSure, the world’s first FDA-approved transcutaneous non-invasive laser device used for permanent fat reduction and non-surgical body contouring is offered at Mansfield Cosmetic Surgery Center.
SculpSure is FDA-cleared to provide non-invasive lipolysis (destruction of fat cells) to the abdomen, flanks, back, inner thighs, and outer thighs. SculpSure has the ability to permanently destroy up to 25% of subcutaneous fat after one 25 minute treatment session. Optimal outcomes occur between 6 and 12 weeks after your body naturally eliminates the byproducts of permanently destroyed fat cells. Patients may require up to three separate treatment sessions per body area but most patients will require two sessions depending upon the desired percentage of fat reduction. Each treatment session can be personally customized.
Sculpsure is the the first ever FDA-approved non-surgical laser treatment for permanent fat reduction.
What body areas can be treated with SculpSure?
SculpSure can be used for non-invasive fat reduction and non-surgical body contouring of the abdomen, sides, flanks, inner / outer thighs, arms, bra fat, back fat, and under butt region (banana folds). It is specifically designed to permanently eliminate fat without surgery and without downtime. SculpSure is described as an alternating warm and cool sensation during the 25 minute treatment session. Unfortunately, our office does not treat the submental (under chin) area.
How do I know if SculpSure is right for me?
It is important to remember that SculpSure is not a weight-loss procedure; therefore, our office does not treat patients with a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 30 or more. Optimal candidates for SculpSure must have unwanted and stubborn fat in one or two body areas that are resistant to proper diet and exercise and must have a body mass index (BMI) that is not in the obese range.
Body Mass Index (BMI) is a calculation used to measure body fat in men and women as provided by the National Institutes of Health. By using your height and weight as ratio, the BMI calculator will assess your physical condition and determine your BMI in one of several categories: underweight, normal or ideal body weight, overweight, and obese. Dr. Thornton uses your BMI to assess and determine if you are an appropriate candidate for SculpSure or other body contouring procedures.
What can I expect during my SculpSure consultation and treatment with Dr. Michael Thornton?
Clients interested in receiving SculpSure will need to schedule a complimentary consultation and personally meet with Dr. Michael Thornton who will review your goals for non-invasive fat reduction using SculpSure. During your complimentary consultation, Dr. Michael L. Thornton, a double board-certified Cosmetic Surgeon and Diplomate of the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery, will assess your goals and desires for non-invasive fat reduction and determine if you are an acceptable and appropriate candidate to undergo SculpSure in our office. Treatments are not scheduled the same day as your consultation.
However, on the day of your treatment one of our SculpSure technicians will review your goals and expectations and connect you to the device. When the SculpSure treatment begins, you will initially feel a cooling sensation over the treated area as this helps to keep the skin temperature comfortable during the treatment session. The SculpSure laser will then cycle on and off in a modulating fashion, thus raising the temperature below the skin hot enough to cause permanent destruction (lipolysis) of fat cells. Patients will feel a deep warmth or tingling sensation in the treated area but it is generally well tolerated and can be adjusted for comfort. After your 25-minute treatment has completed, you may resume all normal activities! There is absolutely no post-treatment downtime, bruising, or need to wear compression garments.
How many SculpSure treatments will I need?
A few patients have seen results after one single 25-minute treatment per body area, but the overwhelming majority of patients will require two or more separate treatment sessions to obtain optimal and anticipated results. Each separate treatment session is spaced between 4 and 6 weeks apart. You will begin seeing results at 12 weeks following your first treatment.
Is SculpSure safe? Are there any side effects or pain?
Yes, SculpSure is safe. The treatment neither requires anesthesia nor requires topical numbing preparation. There is no skin penetration or puncture and there is no surgery. It is completely non-invasive and non-surgical. The treatment session is administered in our office by either Dr. Michael Thornton or one of our medical staff professionals. Following the 25 minute treatment session, you are basically free to go and may resume normal activities.
If I had previous liposuction can I have SculpSure?
Yes, because sometimes following liposuction surgery, retained fat can be left behind, especially if you have gained additional weight. There is basically no problem in having a SculpSure treatment on the same area as previous liposuction but this situation will need to be evaluated on an individual basis.
